She worked as a digital marketer in both People's Republic of China and the United States before feeling the itch to study the intersection between algorithms, digital authoritarianism, and disinformation. Packing her bags, she set out to obtain her Master of Global Policy Studies with a portfolio specialization in security studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She fell in love with research during her time as a Task Team Lead at the Global Disinformation Lab while further developing her research interests through the Brumley and Cyber Fellow programs.
Now, Liz uses her Mandarin to research influence patterns and digital repression techniques. See more of her work here.
